Vast and colorful landscapes with the typical Acacias of the savannah or Baobabs in Tsavo which are so typical, then the incredible wildlife which is not only making a photographers heart widen.

Seeing the beautiful cheetahs, lions and leopards in Massai mara, the uncountable wildebeests who are crossing the river following the call of nature to the greener grass on the other side even if crocodiles are luring and attacking to feist on them. Elephants offering an insight of their rich social life, elegant giraffes, lazy hippos and within the rich variety of bigger and smaller birds as well as other smaller animals. To be able to watch rhinos in the wild, mothers with their youngs was amazing as in other parts of Africa they are poached and brought to the edge of extinction just because of their horns.

But Kenya is not only that – it has a rich history and finally there is the freedom of speech, an extraordinary achievement for this country. There are many Kenyan environmentalists who have recognized the importance of a healthy environment that is also crucial for the long term surviving of people and the guarantees of an income.

Weite und farbenfrohe Landschaften mit den typischen Akazien der Savanne oder Baobab Bäume in Tsavo sind typisch für Kenia. Die unglaubliche Vielfalt der Wildtiere lässt nicht nur Fotografenherzen höher schlagen.

Nicht nur die schönen und eleganten Geparde, Löwen und Leoparden in der Massai Mara, sondern auch die unzähligen Gnus, die den Mara Fluss überqueren, um dem Ruf der Natur zu dem grüneren Grass auf der anderen Seite des Flusses zu folgen obwohl im Fluss hungrige Krokodile sie attackieren und einige von ihnen die Überquerung nicht überstehen. Es sind auch Elefanten, die uns einen Einblick in ihr einmaliges Sozialleben gewähren, sondern auch die reiche Vielfalt an grösseren und kleineren Vögeln und anderen Tieren. Wilde Nashörner beobachten zu können und Mütter mit ihren Jungen zu sehen war einzigartig da sie in vielen Teilen von Afrika gewildert werden und bis an den Rand der Ausrottung gebracht werden nur wegen ihres Horns.

Aber Kenia ist noch vieles mehr – es hat eine reiche Geschichte und schliesslich ist da auch die Redefreiheit, die vielleicht für uns selbstverständlich aber für dieses Land eine unglaubliche Errungenschaft darstellt. Viele auch junge Kenianer haben sich dem Umweltschutz verschrieben und die enorme Bedeutung einer gesunden Umwelt erkannt, die auch extrem wichtig für das langfristige Überleben der Menschen und für Ihr Auskommen sorgt.
